Ghandhi ji Return from south Africa On the occasion "Pravasi Bhartiya Divas", a set of two Commemorative Coins Rs 100/- and Rs 10/-, were released on 8th January 2015. to commemorate -- Centenary year of Return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa to India Gandhi returned to India in 1915 after his 21 years of stay in South Africa. The coins shows two pictures of Gandhi, one when he was a young barrister and another one after he came to be known as ‘Mahatma’ by people across the globe. REVERSE :- This face of the coin shows the dual portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, with inscription ‘Mahatma Gandhi’ in Devnagari and below which ‘MAHATMA GANDHI’ in English at right top periphery of dual portrait. The inscription ‘RETURN FROM SOUTH AFRICA’ and ‘CENTENARY COMMEMORATION’ shall be on right upper periphery and right lower periphery respectively, with words ‘Dakhina Africa se wapasi’ and ‘Satabdi Smarnochab’ shall be on left upper periphery and left lower periphery respectively.
