The Rupee was minted at Lahore [ now in the pakistan] Kolkatta [ capital of bengal] and Bombay [ in the sind province]   it is an alloy of silver and Nickel  The Quaternary Silver coins were issued from 1940. In 1947 these were replaced by pure Nickel coins.
Indian tiger or sher i hind [ chetta] was introduced upon this big one rupee coin which is one of the last coins issued under the rule of George King VI the coin remembers last days of british rule in india and its historical fall in the year1947 when of india and pakistan emerged as two seperate independent nations
